Roland Moore

Forced Choice

1.       Ashley Tomlin:  She had the best research out of the class, and had the most convincing graphs to back up her research.
2.      Coral McGarvey:  I really liked her idea and the information that she received it was easy to understand.  I was just not interested in the topic.
3.      Elizabeth Manning:  Loved the layout of her project very easy to navigate.  It was broken up into sections which made it easy to see the outcome of the survey.
4.      Roland Moore:  I believe mine is a good as the ones in front of me but their project is just more appealing.
5.      Lana Cunningham:  Great project.  Great use of words really draws you in and can’t wait to see how the survey went.  Then she only has one graph.  Hard to understand with only one graph.
6.      Cristin Wacaser:  Great idea just not enough information to support it.

Week 10 EOC: Use market research to make money

There are many things that I have thought about in this class that I could make money off of.  Not even by having a real job, but just by having the knowledge of what market research is and what is can do for a company.  The main thing that I really liked and leaned in this class was when I saw the movie big.  It was a kid in a adult body and he was able to use market research to help the company become bigger and better.  “Descriptive research is intended to describe the characteristic of a population or phenomenon.” Marketing Research Kit for Dummies pg.43.  This is just saying that we really need to know what we are talking about and really need to be in depth in what we are researching.  The way that I will use this class to make money in the near future is to use all of the market research that I have done in this class to find a way to get more people to join my gym.  I can find ways to get more people to join that gym.  I can really find out what women want out of their gym, because I think that is where the money is in women.  “Something as simple as a researcher smiling or frowning can influence the way participants behave during an experiment.” I would love to talk to women about what they want out of a gym and get commission on how many women join in the first month.  I think that is where the money is you talk to a women about classes at a gym and if they have kids how safe their kids are while they work out.

Week 9 EOC: Network, how much research shaped the network

The thing that I noticed the most in the movie was that they really used the fall of a man’s life to help them grab more viewers on their TV show.  The first thing that I noticed was when he talked about killing himself it was looked at like a bad thing and Dian used it has a way to make a whole new show and that became a huge hit.  The stronger that he felt about how bad his life was and how bad the life of the rest of America was the more he talked about it and the higher the ratings were.  There was a part in the movie that showed Diane that she had a great experience with the bank robbers and she wanted to make a show out of it.  She noticed that this is what America wanted. They wanted new things and new things to see on TV.  That is how at the end of the movie she used her new show to end the run of an old amazing show.  The network understood that even though they had something really good going that it was going to be the end of the network.  That is what is so bad about a network and that all they really care about is rating and future rating of the network.  That is why at the end of the movie they committed a huge crime by actually killing off the main character just to save the ratings.
